Container Repair
From structural damage to door gaskets — your container is repaired to IICL standards in our workshop, which has an IICL-certified inspector on staff, and handed back with full documentation.
What Is Container Repair, and How Is It Done?
Container repair restores the structural integrity and watertightness of a damaged freight container: structural welding, panel replacement, doors and gaskets, floors, paint and corrosion work. Uskont carries out repairs in its Istanbul workshop — and on site where the job allows — to IICL maintenance and repair criteria; every job is handed over with a photo-documented repair record. Because time and cost depend on the type of damage, they are confirmed in a clear quote after the damage survey.
What Damage We Repair
From minor dents to structural welding — we assess each damage type against IICL criteria and determine the repair method.
Structural Repair
Cutting, reinforcement and welding for damage to corner posts, cross members and the frame.
Panel Replacement
Patching or full replacement of punctured or heavily dented side and roof panels.
Doors & Gaskets
Door alignment, hinge and locking gear, and renewal of watertight door gaskets.
Floor Repair
Partial or full replacement and reinforcement of marine plywood or steel floors.
Paint & Corrosion
Surface preparation, rust removal and protective coating suited to marine conditions.
Markings & Plates
Renewal of numbers, logos and CSC plates — identification markings applied to standard.
What You Get When the Repair Is Done
Every repair is scoped and carried out according to IICL maintenance and repair criteria. When the job is finished, you receive not just a repaired container but a repair record with a photo-documented breakdown of the work performed.
If you wish, have the repair documented with an independent Post-Repair Report issued by our inspection team — especially for leased containers and those changing hands, it helps the buyer or lessor accept the unit with confidence.
- Damage survey and photos
- Repair method applied (IICL ref.)
- Materials and parts used
- Post-repair photos
- Optional: independent post-repair report

Frequently Asked Questions About Repair
Does it make more sense to repair or replace the container?
As a rule of thumb: if the damage does not compromise structural integrity and the repair cost is clearly below the container's value, repair makes sense. We clarify this comparison for you during the damage survey — and if needed, we will honestly tell you to "replace it".
Can repairs be done on site?
Small and medium-scale repairs can be done on site; work such as welding and panel replacement may require workshop conditions. The most suitable option is recommended during the damage survey.
How long does a container repair take?
Minor repairs are completed within days, while panel replacements and structural work can take longer. Because the time depends on the type of damage, we do not quote a fixed duration; together with the damage survey, we provide a clear quote for time and cost.
Do you repair container floors and roofs?
Yes. On floors we carry out partial or full replacement and reinforcement of marine plywood or steel floors; on roofs and side walls, punctured or heavily dented panels are patched or fully replaced.
Do I receive documentation after the repair?
Yes — every repair is handed over with a photo-documented repair record. If you wish, you can also have the repair documented with an independent Post-Repair Report prepared by our inspection team; this is especially recommended for leased containers and containers changing hands.
Do you guarantee your repairs?
Yes — we guarantee that our repairs conform to IICL maintenance and repair standards. Every repair is handed over with a photo-documented repair record and, if you wish, an independent Post-Repair Report.
