In brief

What Is Container Consulting?

In container consulting, Uskont takes on the desk side of maintenance and repair (M&R): we review depot repair estimates from EDI records and imagery, prepare estimates remotely on behalf of depots, code damage to ISO 9897 CEDEX and IICL-6 criteria, and carry out after-repair verification and gate data entry. Remote services are delivered from Istanbul and are not limited to Turkey; physical inspection on site is carried out in Turkey.

Scope

What We Do Remotely

Coding a damage and turning it into a price is where maintenance and repair departments spend their arguments. We handle this work remotely, independent of the yard.

D-01

Estimate Review

We review depot repair estimates from EDI records and imagery: tariff and norm-hour compliance, wear and tear against lessee damage, duplicate and previous repairs, third-party claims.

D-02

Remote Estimating

The depot captures the damage on the yard tablet following our photo and measurement protocol; CEDEX coding, pricing against the customer tariff and preparation of the estimate are done by us. The output is issued under the depot’s own name.

D-03

After-Repair Verification

We carry out after-repair verification with the same remote set-up, from depot records and imagery.

D-04

Gate Data Entry

Processing of container gate-in and gate-out data through EDI and client systems, with CODECO, COPARN, COARRI and DESTIM messages.

D-05

CEDEX and IICL-6 Mapping

We map the damage classes and severity scores of damage detection software to ISO 9897 CEDEX codes and IICL-6 criteria.

D-06

Ground Truth Labelling

For model training we label damage with our IICL-certified inspector instead of general annotators, review model output against human assessment, and turn a detected damage into a priced repair estimate.

The Difference

Our Codes Come from Real Repairs

We operate our own repair and modification facility. The damage codes we work with come from repairs we price and actually carry out, so estimates are prepared by the team that also does the repair work, not by reviewers working only from documents.

The line between acceptable wear and chargeable damage moves from one operator to the next. That is why we assess every estimate against the customer’s own tariff.

How We Work
  • IICL-6 damage criteria
  • ISO 9897 (CEDEX) damage coding
  • EDI: CODECO, COPARN, COARRI, DESTIM
  • An IICL-certified damage inspector on staff (certified since 2006)
  • Remote services from Istanbul, not limited to Turkey
Process

How a Remote Estimate Is Prepared

01

Yard Capture

The depot records the damage on a tablet, following our photo and measurement protocol.

02

Coding

Damage is coded to ISO 9897 CEDEX and IICL-6 criteria.

03

Pricing

The estimate is priced against the customer tariff.

04

Issued in the Depot’s Name

The estimate is issued under the depot’s own name and sent through EDI and client systems.

Consulting FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Consulting

01

What does your container consulting cover?

The desk work of maintenance and repair: reviewing and remotely preparing depot repair estimates, coding damage with CEDEX and IICL-6, after-repair verification and gate data entry. We also support companies developing damage detection software with coding and labelling.

02

Do you work for depots outside Turkey?

Yes. Remote services are delivered from Istanbul and are not limited to Turkey; we can review estimates from any of your depots. Physical inspection on site is carried out in Turkey.

03

Under whose name is a remotely prepared estimate issued?

Under the depot’s own name. The depot captures the damage following our photo and measurement protocol; we handle the CEDEX coding, the pricing against the customer tariff and the preparation of the estimate.

04

What do you check when reviewing an estimate?

Tariff and norm-hour compliance, wear and tear against lessee damage, duplicate and previous repairs, and third-party claims.

05

We develop damage detection software. How can you support us?

We map your damage classes and severity scores to ISO 9897 CEDEX codes and IICL-6 criteria, prepare ground truth for model training with our IICL-certified inspector, and review model output against human assessment. Turning a detected damage into a priced repair estimate is also work we already do remotely.

06

Which standards and systems do you work with?

Damage is assessed to IICL-6 criteria and coded to ISO 9897 (CEDEX). We work through EDI and client systems, including CODECO, COPARN, COARRI and DESTIM messages.
